  1. ok I checked and the cmos battery has voltage 3.1 volts which is going to the motherboard. so it cant be that
  2. If the motherboard is really toast I'm going to be tossing the laptop for sure. I had some other people tell me it might be the cmos battery that's empty but not only is it not easily accessible its also spot welded onto the motherboard. I guess I can try cleaning the connector for the hdd, though I don't think it's what's causing a problem.
  3. So I have been fumbling about with this for the better part of 2 days now. It started when I wanted to refresh my laptop. I used the "refresh this PC" inside windows 8.1 which deletes all your files without having to completely reinstall. After coming back to my laptop an hour later I was presented with what you see in (picture 1). At first I shrugged this off thinking the restore just crapped out and went on my way to making an USB install disk of windows 8.1 (yes not windows 10, I dont like windows 10). Here is where the real issues started. I could not get it to boot from my USB stick no matter what I tried (Picture 2). I even tried two different linux distros (ubuntu and zorin os) The issue most likely being secure boot being turned on or UEFI boot being turned on. One problem, none of the changes I make to the bios are saved. As a last resort I installed windows onto the drive using a different computer and this went without a hitch (even validated it being bootable with said computer), untill I plugged the drive back into the laptop (Picture 3 when using the boot menu and picture 1 when just letting it boot without touching anything). now after trying to boot for a while it just gives me what you see on picture 4. I'm kinda at a loss of what to do now, any tips would be appricated.
  4. So I'm about to order the parts for a PC for a friend and he is getting an I5 6600K. Now I've read that coolers that fit on 1150 also fit on 1151 but I've also read that some coolers are bending cpu's. So I'd like to know if the "Be quiet Dark Rock 3" works with this cpu/socket.
  5. Ok i just unpluged and plugged in the dvi cable and it seems to have fixed itself
  6. So i just plugged in a 144hz benq monitor (XL2770z) and i have a seccond monitor a benq (GL2450H). and all is fine and dandy on the 144hz none (nice and smooth) but when i drag something onto the 60hz monitor its it becomes horrible laggy (sub 30 hz i think) I have a gtx 960 and the 144hz is plugged into displayport and the 60hz one is plugged into dvi also using windows 7 if that helps
  7. ok ive tried 5500 and it helps but it still doesnt look right
  8. h264 preset is very fast and encoding profile is high with cfr enabled
  9. ive just turned it up to 3500 and i still have the rendering glitches encoding is on x264, using cbr using sbr pading
  10. well ive been tinkering a lot with it and im about to reset to default but at the moment its 1000kbs with no buffer
  11. itll be fine i dont play all that demanding games
  12. ive used shadowplay but it doesnt have the features i want/need
  13. So ive been trying to record gameplay footage with obs. but ive tried multiple configurations of obs and all of them either coused gameplay lag or rendering bugs on the footage. i have a intel core I7 4790k and a avga 960 4gb i want to record in 1080p 60 if at all possible
  14. But will that give me the functionallity of touchwiz (aka the dual screen mode)
