  1. Thank you. I will look into buying a cooler with a larger heatsink.
  2. So if I use a big cooler like a Noctua NH-D15, could I use it without the fans and still get good temperatures?
  3. My main goal for my PC is to be as quiet as possible, and right now the primary source of noise is the two 92mm fans on my Cooler Master Hyper TX3. I have finally upgraded my case and now have much more room for cooling. I was wondering if it is possible to have a CPU cooler with no fans that would still keep my CPU cool enough. Is that possible? My CPU is an AMD FX-6300, so it has a TDP of 95W. I never overclock and my CPU rarely goes into high usage.
  4. It looks like most people are saying that the MSI card is my best choice. It is actually a little bit too long to fit in my case, but my birthday is coming up and I need a new case pretty badly, so I should be able to pick up a new case with the graphics card.
  5. Thanks for all the replies! I just want to clarify as the title may be misleading. I am looking specifically for the quietest cooler, especially under load.
  6. Probably much older than what most people are listening to here, but listening to Chance Meeting by Roxy Music. This is from their first album from 1972.
  7. I should start by saying that my main intention in upgrading my PC is to make it quieter. I currently have an XFX 7950, and I cannot keep it running cool without making the fans very loud. I finally have the chance to upgrade and I have decided to get an RX 470. With the RX 470 being a new card, there isn't too much information available about how the different coolers stack up. I assume the board partners use pretty much the same cooler technologies and designs on different GPUs, so I was hoping that maybe someone here knows enough about the different coolers to help me pick the quietest one (and maybe explain a little bit about the different coolers). Anyway, here are my options: Stock cooler Asus ROG STRIX MSI Gaming X GIGABYTE G1 Gaming PowerColor RED DEVIL XFX Single Fan Sapphire NITRO+ XFX Triple X Any advice is appreciated!
  8. I want to replace the two case fans that came with my Raidmax Super Viper because they are cheap and starting to have problems. I plan on painting the blades of the new fans in orange, since orange and black is my color scheme. I've done this before and the fans were fine after I reassembled them, but my friend says that with more expensive fans that have better bearings, I will mess them up by disassembling them. Is this true? If it is, I will have to buy orange fans, which really limits my fan selection.
  9. I just tried it, still getting the insert boot device error.
  10. I recently got a 620W Enermax power supply to replace my 500W Antec. In the process of installing it, I managed to break my hard drive. This hard drive is just for games, my OS is on an SSD. I replaced it with a new 3TB hard drive that was tested on a different computer. When turning on my computer with the new power supply and hard drive, the BIOS recognized both the hard drive and SSD, but it would not boot from the SSD that I used all this time. I tried different SATA headers and cables, checked the BIOS boot order and options, and tried with my old power supply as well. Then I tried reinstalling Windows on my SSD, but my computer wouldn't even boot from my Windows installation flash drive. So I know that for some reason my computer won't boot up from anything. I tried my SSD as a secondary drive in a different computer and it worked fine. Any ideas or suggestions? Specs: AMD FX-6300 ECS A970M-A Deluxe 8GB HyperX Genesis Radeon HD 7950 Enermax Liberty 620W
  11. Great, thanks!
  12. I currently have an Antec Basiq 500W power supply, which is slightly limiting my computer as I recently upgraded to a Radeon HD 7950 to go with my FX-6300. I was going to buy myself a new power supply to allow overclocking and more breathing room for my components, but my dad found an Enermax Liberty 620W modular power supply at work, and I can have it for free. Enermax is not really on the list of tier 1 power supplies as far as I know. Do you think it is safe to use it?
  13. Just takes me to a receipt.
