  1. I mean, I was trying to be nice and say that I wasn't interested in IEMs, but if you want to make an ass of yourself, that's cool too, I guess. I specifically said that I'm not interested in ear-inserted alternatives to headphones based on both my current preferences for experimenting with audio equipment and also a physiological dislike of them due to in-ear irritation. If you want to contribute something tangible to the thread, like an actual recommendation based on what I'm looking for, then please do so. Otherwise, I watched all three videos. They genuinely sound like good products that fill a very specific role that I just don't personally do at the moment. If I ever do start to go towards that kind of use, I would look more into it then. But, it isn't what I'm looking for now.
  2. Hey, thanks for the info, I appreciate the heads up! If I ever get into playing live performances I'll definitely look more into this. Yea, my original message is kind of all over the place. The bookshelf speakers I use is for an entirely separate music playing setup I have for general entertainment for the house. Kind of defeats the purpose of enjoying music/games and stuff while I'm just at my desk not trying to bother anyone else, in my opinion. That's an interesting path to take and sounds like an interesting side-grade. I can say I know less about planar headphones than even normal headphones, honestly. When it comes to the Magni, how does it stack against something in the similar niche it sits in such as the S.M.S.L SH-6 (or is it the DA-6, I'm still looking), or Topping A50S? Or even looking in the same ecosystem of Schiit and experimenting with tubes?
  3. I mean, probably around the $1000 range? Like I said, I'm looking for something that would suit my uses better than what I already have. So, that's not a firm limit for me. As long as you're not recommending something absurd like Focal Utopias or LCD-4z's, you're probably not completely out there.
  4. I mean, sure, man. I meant audio devices that go inside the ear in general. I find them uncomfortable and annoying, because I have incredibly small ears and my ears are sometimes already aggravated when I have to wear earpro at my job (which usually are ear inserts).
  5. I'm not a huge fan of earbuds, truth be told. I've never liked them for anything not working out. I actually cannot find anything on that particular AMP/DAC combo. Does it go by a different name?
  6. Hey there, I'm going to be moving pretty soon and I've been thinking of going through and upgrading some of my peripherals in the near future along with. I've been running a set of Sennheiser HD660S' paired with a Rode Procaster through a Steinburg UR22C for the past few years. And, while I've been relatively happy with the headphone performance, I've always found the Procaster lacking pretty hard. Which is honestly probably on me for the most part, I'll admit. Primary use for all of this is gaming, but I do a lot with music - both listening and creating. I can connect my guitar, bass, drumkit, and microphone up pretty easily and that was my primary concern when originally picking all of it up. But, now that I've got at least some experience with some good gear, I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for any way I could improve what I do have. I've always wondered about experimenting with another set of headphones, but I don't want to pick something up that's definitively worse than what I've already got, ya know? Maybe something that would be better for the games I play, etc. I don't competitive game anymore and most of what I play is story based, so something that would really fill out the experience would be wonderful. My mic is mostly for calling friends and the like, but I've been experimenting with recording vocals for hobby use. Dipping my toe into VA work and music recording. Frankly, I've got no opinion on a DAC or amp, so I'm in the dark on that one. Kinda the same thing with my headphones. Just looking for a nicer listening experience, maybe try out setting up tubes - Whatever would be cool. EDIT: Also forgot to mention my Edifier R1700BT speakers I use for my turntable. I bought a cheap set of tubes to put in the line of the turntable, but I'm convinced they don't actually do anything. What's a good set of tubes to replace them with, and what kind of sub should I pair with them, if I should pick one up at all?
  7. Thanks for the feedback! Would contrast be that big of an issue if I already play most of my games in a dimly lit/dark room? I play a lot of horror/atmospheric games, so lighting is usually pretty minimal anyways.
  8. How's it going everyone? I've recently just come back from overseas and now I'm sifting through half a year's worth of tech releases (and two years of tech releases that I also didn't follow, but I'll skip over that one. :^) ) and I've got my eye caught on potentially getting a new monitor. I've been running an LG UltraGear QHD 27GL83A-B 27" for the last two years or so and honestly have no real complaints with the monitor itself. I've just been wanting to get something slightly larger, not gargantuan, mind you, but a little bit larger. Ultrawide monitors have always interested me and with a lot of recent price drops, it's looking mighty attractive to pick one up. In particular, either: Alienware AW3423DWF or Samsung's Odyssey OLED G8 I'm kind of a fan of curved display, so the fact that both are is pretty cool. And both seem to have what I want from a layman's perspective focused on picture quality and enjoyment over production. 1440p, Ultrawide, curved, good color reproduction, over 60Hz (because I play games for the stories nowadays, not multiplayer, etc. Is right now or the near future a good time at looking to buy one of these monitors, or should I be holding out until the price drops or something new pops its head up? Because I also found the Corsair Xeneon Flex, but $1,999.99 quite frankly sounds a little much just to be able to bend it whenever I want.
  9. I don't think you read the topic very well. This monitor is supposed to function as both a TV for the PS4 and XBox One, and as a normal computer monitor. I would love a 1440p monitor, but I just don't have the room for separate screens, and I don't want my consoles to look poopy.
  10. I researched for a few hours and found both; http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2414H-24-Inch-Monitor/dp/B00GTV05XG?ie=UTF8&keywords=Dell U2414h&qid=1465444469&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 and http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Ultrasharp-U2417HJ-Wireless-Charging/dp/B01BM54U7K/ref=dp_ob_title_ce What is the difference between the two, and would it be worth it to get the new model? I have no real use for the wireless charging base, but I'm not certain of any updates to the actual monitor itself.
  11. Alright, thanks for the help, anyways. I appreciate it.
  12. Is only one person going to give me a recommendation?
  13. Hmm, are there any IPS alternatives? I'm not really a huge fan of TN panels.
  14. Hello, everyone! My current monitor is a bit dated. Even though it has served me well for this long, I think it's time for an upgrade. I plan to upgrade my GPU as soon as the 10XX series cards finally start to go to where they should be priced, and I've bought both a PS4 and an XBox One to play with friends on. Paying for all of that has left me in a tight spot to think about what kind of display I should buy. However, I only have room for one monitor, and I need it to fill the role of being used for both consoles and my computer. Should I go with a 144Hz 1080p monitor for the extra frames? Or should I just go for a 60Hz 1440p monitor in favor of graphical fidelity on the computer? I'm just kind of overthinking things at the duel use, and I wanted your guys' opinions and recommendations on the matter. I will be buying off of Amazon, and I'm hoping it can be around $300, hopefully under, but I can just wait a while if need be.
  15. Hey, thanks for taking the time for the choices, but you forgot one detail. It's an easy fix, but you didn't "Amazon prices". Not bad though, I'll probably give him the second list.
