Will this x58 motherboard work? [Missing Chip]

Earo

Hello, I got a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard, but it's missing a chip. I checked the manual and found it's 'Realtek RTL8111E'. I don't have a CPU to test it at the moment (even if I order one it will take weeks to arrive).

So my question is will the motherboard work without the chip or is it impossible to say? What is this chip responsible for? I assume it's the ethernet port?

Here's a picture (sorry for the poor quality): https://imgur.com/IWIygf1

Edit: Here's the manual if it helps http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-x58a-ud3r_v2.0_e.pdf
