"Mining profit is now around 0 or even negative, depending of the cost of electricity.

Not necessarily. Otherwise nobody would've bought GPUs to mine with lol

Duh.

Great thing imo. Mining is throwing shit tons of electricity (and pollution) at a completely artifical load with no real benefit.

That's an F in the profile pic

A lot of less intelligent people did.

This is why there are so many used mining GPUs on craigslist now.

This. GPU mining used to be profitable... way before the videocard shortage. People who were buying up videocards causing the shortage were getting in at the tail end and the only people making a profit were the people running warehouses full of mining rigs in Asia.

Back before the videocard shortage when mining was still "profitable" I was able to make $50 per month after power costs before taking into account cooling costs... this was back when the ROI for people building mining rigs was 6 months but that shot up to 12 months a week or two later.

I hope crypto dies completely

Nice news post btw

Awareness is key. Never enough, even in the face of futility. Speak the truth as if you may never get to say it again. This world is full of ugly. Change it they say. The only way is to reveal the ugly. To change the truth you must first acknowledge it. Never pretend it isn't there. Never bend the knee.

The stupid thing is, in my country when people bought bulk of graphics cards at crazy prices like money is no problem for them, when mining is exploded, they threw load tons of money to get the GPUs with the best Hash rate at stupidly expensive prices.

Now when the mining is down, they're still not willing to sell all of those mined GPUs at low prices, like you guys have in your country which you can find many ex-mining used high-end GTX 1080 Ti for $500-$550 USD, in my country an ex-mining 1080 Ti is still at over $600 USD for the midrange class card like Zotac and the more less popular cards. Don't ask me the high-end 1080 Ti ones, they're just stupid.. The lowest price for an ex-mining 1080 Ti is Galax and Inno3d and Palit ones are around $560 USD.

People here are not willing to give up the selling margin from what they've paid before, to match the selling price trend which happens out there..

I was so envy to someone who can get an EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW triple fans with warranty still on for $560 USD, which that kind of deal won't exist in my country, because of those stupid greedy miners..

No, that's because they are smart; they know it's not the end of mining and are waiting for the next coin.

I know someone who was mining bitcoin on ati cards a few years ago, at one point he sold up because it wasn't worth mining BTC any more. If he hadn't sold he could have made far much more, mining XMR, and then ETH. There will always be something else. Currently for CPU's that is NERVA.
