MSI z270 tomahawk opt boost cpu light

I’m currently working on a build for a friend but have hit a brick wall. For some reason I can’t get his new 7700k to boot. I know the board is fine(and updated to the newest bios firmware.) His old 6100 boots fine, but every time I swap out to the 7700k I get no video output and the cpu light on the motherboard lights up. What am I missing?

msi z270 tomahawk opt boost

32gb ripjaw

evga 750 g3

off brand 240gb ssd

1tb wd blue
