How to install an SSD as a boot drive

Daniel_1104

So I have finally made the set up to an SSD in 2018, I know it’s a bit late but better late than never.

I have installed the SSD and my PC is detecting it but I don’t know how to make it my boot drive and all the guilds I find are like 5 years old and pretty much only tell you how to install it in the PC and skip over the configuration side. If any can help me that would be great or even link a tutorial I may not have found.

Thanks

Is there a way of transferring it over from my other drive or just a fresh install?

you can... but the best method is a fresh install. If you want, you can look into any software provided by your SSD manufacture, some offer softwares to clone drives with, or you can use Macrium Reflect as well. There are some caveats to that that are explained in this video:

no, the way Windows 10 works is it binds to your motherboard ID. So when you activate it, it will see that you have the same motherboard and activate it without issue.
