Haswell i7 compatibility with B85 chipset

Hi,

I've got a Gigabyte B85-HD3 mATX board in my PC atm, how well will it work with an i7 4770/4790?

Being an entry level board I'm not sure how well it will work with the i7.

It's LGA 1150 so it should work right?

Is it worth buying a Z87/Z97 board instead?

Thanks :)

If you are going with the 4790 you'll need to update the BIOS to support Devils Canyon.

Okay, that's fine. I can handle a BIOS update lol.

the I7 4790K + Z97 is my combo and its still amazing, the locked chips are also still pretty good. In the Toaster i have an I5 4690K and great when paired with a 1050TI.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
