It's not actually true ;) The 8250U has ridiculously low clock speeds under an all-core load. That includes AAA-title gaming. In Cinebench, my R5 2500U actually matches its single-threaded Cinebench performance while outperforming the 8250U in the multithreaded benchmark. The problem with some reviews of the 2500U & 2700U is that they were tested in ultra-thin laptops with worse cooling which makes the dynamic Precision Boost 2 adjust the clock speeds accordingly. On laptops with a bit better cooling solutions, those CPUs perform even better. This is the case in the Acer Nitro 5 that I have.

Also the iGPU is basically incomparable with the one inside of my 2500U, let alone the more powerful one inside of 2700U. I'd say go R7 2700U.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
