Im a new builder just want to double check if my parts are compatible

LegacyLarry

Hello, I'm new to building computers and I just want to double check whether my parts are compatible (hopefully this counts a troubleshooting, I wasn't sure)

My components are:

Cpu:Intel - Core i5-7600 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor (btw I bought this last year for like $150 so thats why I'm using it)

mobo: GIGABYTE Z370P D3

Gpu:  MSI - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8 GB Video Card

Heat sink: intel stock cooler (I might upgrade later)

Psi: EVGA 500 BQ, 80+ Bronze 500W, Semi Modular, FDB Fan, 3 Year Warranty, Power Supply 110-BQ-0500-K1 (after looking at all my build could one of you tell me whether I should upgrade to a 650 watt, thank you)

Ram: Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Kit

hard drive: Seagate BarraCuda Internal Hard Drive 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MBz

case: In Win 101 White ATX Mid Tower

ssd: ADATA SU800 128GB 3D-NAND 2.5 Inch SATA III

fans: ARCTIC F12 - 120 mm Standard Case Fan ( 2 of them even though its not that relevant)

 Thank you.

You can't use a Z370 (or any 300 series chipset board) for Kaby Lake.

Any H270 or B250 should be good enough.

Go onto pc parts picker and enter your parts it's fairly good at catching incompatible parts

Yea, I agree with the comment above.

Use pcpartpicker. Sometimes it gives you odd warnings though that are wrong like telling you you need extra sata ports when you have lots and isn't always perfect for everything like if stuff fits in your case, but it's way better than guessing.

It would have definitely checked the CPU against the motherboard chipset correctly though.

Yea, I couldn't find my motherboard on pc part picker, I checked their before I checked these forums. I must have accidentally overlooked the chipset. Thank you guys for all the help

  • 5 weeks later...

Ok so sorry for the late update I decided to start building during the winter break, due to the fact that I am busy I have decided to use these parts:

That does not include the ssd which listed on my first post of this thread and the case which is listed in the same area

I have not ordered any of the parts and I am too lazy currently to do the measurements for my heat sink. Tell me if everything fits.

-Thank you for all the help guys
