annoying fan whine, would replacing the fan help?

i've got a HP EliteBook Folio 9470M, and it has a very annoying fan whine. would it help if i replace the fan? this laptop is quite old now, so maybe it's worn out, i dunno...

Coil whine can't really be fixed without buying a new fan.

it's not coil whine. it's only there when the fan spins up.

Tuning the fan curve to something where the fans speed up slowly might help (I think it can be done in HP's BIOS).

Install SpeedFan and see if your fan is detected.

it's running linux, so i can't do that..
