[Help] How to read Gigabyte's QVL

Noyu

Can someone please ELI5 how to read my motherboard's QVL for Raven Ridge?
My board is a Gigabyte AB350N-Gaming WiFi:

(here is link http://download.gigabyte.asia/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-ab350n-gaming-wifi_raven_v1.pdf)

I find it confusing hat a board with ONLY 2 DIMM SLOTS lists memory meant for a 8x16GB kit.

image.png.52580b3a1c4ce81b206f0a6b7bc48af5.png

Background:
I actually already have a Trident Z kit (F4-3200C16D-16GTZSK) but I can't seem to run any RAM overclock without my system crashing at windows login.
HOWEVER, I remember it working flawlessly when I still had a discrete GPU paired with the 2400G.

Do note that in both cases I did not OC the CPU or the iGPU.
So right now I'm planning to sell it off and buy new ones that are guaranteed to work at AT LEAST 2933 MHz

Anyways:
Here's the QVL.

(here is link http://download.gigabyte.asia/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-ab350n-gaming-wifi_raven_v1.pdf)

I really only need something that'll run at >=2933MHz @ 2x8GB

What do these mean?

  1. Density (e.g. 4GB, 8GB, 16GB) - is this per stick? per kit? what?  ->>>>>>> it's per stick
  2. # of Ranks x DRAM devices - what?
  3. SS/DS - ??

HELP

Is that an a series or b series mobo? I wouldn't run a r5 higher than a 2400g in an a series. They can literally catch fire from that

Have you updated your bios? I am running RAM that is not listed on Asus's QVL list and used to have RAM stability issues even at stock speeds but now with recent Bios updates that is no longer an issue.

1. Density is the amount of memory per module, or stick if you will.

2. See this article on what memory ranks mean

3. SS/DS means single sided and dual sided, so whether the module has just one side populated with DRAM chips or both.

From my understanding of what you meant, this is a B series motherboard based on the AB350 chipset.
(assuming the aseries is the A320)

Yes. I'm using the latest BIOS. I would like to reiterate that it was working very well when I was still using a discrete GPU.

I could just turn on XMP and it would work at 3200Mhz flawlessly.

HOWEVER, now that I removed said dGPU, and now using the iGPU, I can't get past the login screen without the system crashing.

Thanks is it correct to assume that #2 and #3 doesn't matter THAT much when it comes to compatibility?
