Well that depends on where you live and the sooner you invest the sooner it'll pay off.

He has a point though. Unless you become one of the kid's you hear about making 250 grand in the summer selling lemonade then buying / selling stock it IS going to take you decades of actual saving to fully fund your own "dream home". Especially in america where average house pricing seems to be like 400k+ and that's for prebuilts. Since as mentioned previously, custom build's are way more expensive than planned, so get a budget, then add half of that again and then some.
