looking for a laptop for school but also gaming

 Share

Hi all! I have a macbook for school but due to it being an older model it isn't performing well at all and was interested in buying a new laptop but interested in one capable of running games for taking away and etc.

I want a slim and not chunky laptop due to it needing to be taken around school grounds. i was looking at the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin laptop with the 1060 gpu and was wondering if this was too overkill for school taking or a very good purchase for what is needed. just need opinions!

I generally advise against buying a laptop that does both, since there's always a compromise somewhere. A lighter laptop with a beefy GPU always has shitty battery life for instance, and they're usually very loud. Consider a higher quality ultrabook with thunderbolt and an eGPU instead. You have portability and battery life at school and gaming when you're at home.

No, gaming at school shouldn't be a priority, I've seen people at uni doing that, and they didn't end up getting passing grades on a lot of classes. Focus on school when you're at school, game when you have time off at home ;)
