Banned From LTT Discord?

Hi there,

I was recently banned from the LTT discord for absolutely no reason. I wasn't sent any DM why, just got banned one day.

 

It would be great if someone can tell me what I got banned for and if I could possibly be unbanned?

Discord has an age requirement, the LTT discord has an age requirement. That's just how it is

Hey There, thanks for being nice about it. Just wanted to say that it was due to this..

 

I may or may not have made my twitter account when I was 12 (underage) so I registered with the birthdate of 2001, then once i turned 14, I remembered my twitter account was still registered under the birthyear 2001, so i changed it to my real year, 2004. After this happened and I saved the changes, my account became locked because I made it before I was over 13, so this resulted in all this.

I created a new twitter account and went on with my life.

Thank you once again for not being rude about it and legit thrashing someone for something that isnt true *cough* @campy *cough*

Jesus, age restrictions this, age restrictions that, I miss the days when we were 8 and we were hanging on IRC using squeaky modems... Age restrictions, what even was that back then... and we all turned out just fine.

I mean I would generally assume that age restrictions in discord for example have to do with liability and how the laws work, although you'd expect it to be 18 in that case.

Its about US laws about private information on minors. Under 13 requires parental permission to use service. Thats same for any service which has hq or servers in states.

But its not LMG choice. Or not fully. Its Discords thing to counter spammers overall. LMG could as well insist having only forum logins to access Discord.

they likely just assumed that most people have a phone that they can use to verify their account. as @KuJoe posted, it's an option that was selected at opening. Though they probably didn't think about the people that didn't WANT to provide their phone number
