Which smartwatch to buy late 2018

I am looking to buy a new smartwatch around €250,- , it will be used for sports but not to keep up with running activities or anything. I am currently looking at the Samsung gear sport or the Samsung gear s3. What would be wise to but taking into account that the gear s3 is already two years old?

If you're willing to push slightly past that price, the 42mm Galaxy Watch is €279.  It's going to be similar, but the faster chip should make it more future-proof.

 

Alternately, there's the Fitbit Versa.  It's obviously activity-focused, but it's generally well-balanced and good for the money.

 

You might also want to look at the recently launched Fossil Sport.  It's too new for many reviews, but it looks like a solid, straightforward Wear OS watch.
