you cant get that sale today.

I never said you could. I said you can find similar deals 52 weeks a year. You have to check eBay as much as possible to do so. And you have to communicate with sellers and negotiate prices with them. You may not see what I am talking about but you can find them. Gotta put your mind to it and message some sellers.

Im on Ebay right now, I see a ton of Chinese/Hong Kong options within your price range for sure, or used GPUs (or brand new ones with pics taken out of the box lololol)

Of course you see those. You have to keep scrolling. The deals are there, under the surface.

I believe you have a 1070, just not that it's reliably easy to find a 1070 at that price point.

Only to some.

12 minutes ago, fasauceome said:

since it's apparently super easy to find legit listings at insane discounts of up to %50 off brand new items, never opened, then why don't you find some of these amazing deals and post in the "Hot Deals" subforum?

Two reasons... One, if I find these insane discounts, the majority of the time I am the one negotiating with these listings and buying the items I find to put food on my table and keep a roof over my head week in and week out. And two, most of the deals I find fluctuate on an hourly basis.

It's inconceivable to me that graphics cards are just floating around brand new at half their market price, no strings attached.

Cary Elwes didn't fall off the Cliffs of Insanity and that was inconceivable to Vizzini. Of course this is from a fictional movie but sometimes strings can be pulled when you know what you're doing, what to look for and how to go about pulling them.

Agreed - but right now, its not a good deal at all on ebay

And unless someone beats that next hour, and links it - still doesn't make it relevant lol.  Until then its just an auction site and the dedicated MAY get lucky.

It's not $20 off, it's a $20 rebate that you must use towards future purchases. You have to pay $162 in order to get that 1050 ti. The one I just posted someone paid $112.66 and also got it shipped for free. This occurs 52 weeks a year.

28 minutes ago, Tristerin said:

But its used

Look again(read the description). It was never installed and it's unused. Like new condition. The only difference is that it's no longer sealed in shrink wrap. It's the same as me buying a brand new one still sealed, taking off the shrink wrap and installing it into my PC. If one were to think this one is a scam, they'd be one of the people missing out on this deal. The buyer on the other hand is the one getting the deal. For $50.00 cheaper.

In the form of Newegg credit. This is why they give these away all the time. Because you then spend more money at Newegg in the future.

You're looking at it. This is where communication comes into play. You message the seller with any type of concerns before buying. Only the box is slightly damaged, not the GPU. The description clearly states there is nothing wrong with it. If you are unsure about something, use polite communication to clear it up. The reason they have no use for it is a question you could ask. Before buying. I like that people like yourself are skeptic when it comes to buying on eBay. This can only mean others are the same way and pass on deals left and right. Communication goes a long way to clear up any issues you may have with an item.

You must also understand that once you receive an item, if it is not as described, you get every last cent of your money back. This is why those few sentences of details are very important.

I don't pay tax on that item, not sure why you do unless you live in CA?  That I cant help and doesn't apply to me :)

I buy from Newegg all the time, Ill take that credit all day long, again - 20 bucks is 20 bucks

I don't pay tax on that item, not sure why you do unless you live in CA?

I live in the US. Apparently some states pay tax on Newegg, some states don't... Newegg sales tax

Ill take that credit all day long, again - 20 bucks is 20 bucks

Towards Newegg only. Doesn't benefit people wanting the actual $20.00 to spend on anything outside of Newegg.

You are taking a lot of risk for a used beat up item

The item isn't beat up, the box is. And as I have explained countless times, you can communicate with buyers about everything to do with the item. I've been buying and selling items on eBay for over a decade. Not once have I bought an item that arrived beat up or damaged in any way. I feel absolutely zero risk. Worry? Sometimes. But every single worry turns into exactly what I want, the item or my money back.

you aren't going to sell that idea to me lol, nor the lost time

More deals for other people. As some people say in their listings, their loss could be our gain. The majority of people just want quick cash. Best way to do that is for them to list at a price(or give a deal to a polite communicator) that is a great deal for them and not start it at an extremely lower price and hope the bidding goes up or take forever and list at a higher price that no one will pay quickly.

You literally linked me this item that states this - I mean read the words and comprehend them (Im not trying to be insulting but...come on.) A non installed and unused GPU...followed by Just had no use for it anymore - reads exactly as - Im lying, I upgraded.  Just look at the pictures.  Read his description.  And tell me this is a new GPU (and stop trying to be so...Ebay cultish because that's how you read if you follow your posts - its not Ebay, that's the platform - its sellers on Ebay you are dealing with).  If you do, can I sell you a ketchup popsicle while you wear white gloves?  Only $1 - hell of a deal no one else is selling them right now.

I have, as has this seller. But it's like new, not new. It's unused, not used. In the description plain as day. Which must match what the buyer will be receiving or they get their money back.

This isn't ice cream, it's a GPU. You have a tough time accepting reality don't you? I accept it every day a PC component arrives at my doorstep, from eBay

Bro, I get it, you are an ebay addict (nothing wrong with that) and have enjoyed it thoroughly - that's okay, still not a HOT DEAL at all - no receipt, no guarantee on warranty unless YOU like to be nefarious about it, and nothing you can do about it when it fries prematurely, as paypall wont take care of you for life. Is it a decent buy?  Myself, I wouldn't touch that card with a 10 foot pole - but to others, sure.  But still not a HOT DEAL and nothing compared to the deal still going on @ Newegg.  Because its not comparable.

Not once has something I've purchased from eBay fried prematurely. I even bought my brand new BF1 1TB Xbox One S from eBay that came with BF1 and a BF1 controller for well over 50% off a year and a half ago and it still works like a charm. It was even still sealed in its original box.

Makes it easier for someone else to obtain it.

Ya' know, you're great at imagining the worst case scenarios. You should really try imagining the best case scenarios. For example, guy buys brand new and sealed GTX 1050 ti for son on his birthday. Son receives GTX 1050 ti and finds out it does not fit in his project SFF PC case he's been awaiting a GPU on. Guy lost receipt and has no way to return this brand new GTX 1050 ti. Son then lists GTX 1050 ti on eBay for a quick $100. Describing it as an unused, like new GPU that has nothing wrong with it.

Some lucky buyer on eBay gets HOT DEAL that arrives on his doorstep within a week. Both buyer and seller are happy. It's very possible the buyer even communicated about the whole incident before even buying the GPU. If he were so inclined.
