Which RAM speed should I get for this mobo?

I know of RAM speeds, but honestly don't really understand the difference - or moreso the impact of the difference - between the various speeds. Then there is the latency, also confusing to me, which is separate. Anyway, this motherboard:

I'll be pairing with the Ryzen 2700x, which I understand is Pinnacle Ridge, and so it states:

Quote

- AMD Ryzen series CPUs (Pinnacle Ridge) support DDR4 3466+(OC) / 3200(OC) / 2933/2667/2400/2133 ECC & non-ECC, un-buffered memory*

Does that mean I can use 3466 memory? Or is 2933 the highest? I am not really planning to overclock anything in my setup...

Means the officially supported speed for your CPU is 2933, anything above that may still be supported but is already considered an overclock.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

To get that speed you would have to turn on XMP in BIOS.

Since it states on the manufacturer's site that it

"Supports DDR4 3466+ (OC)"

I would feel confident getting RAM at that speed.

Check the Memory QVL.

P.S.- Ryzen's infinity fabric loves high RAM speeds.
