Graphics card for J1900 CPU setup

Hi,

I mainly play older games circa 2010 or older. So my J1900 (quad core SOC cpu) mini itx setup is generally adequate, however my son really likes farming and we’ve bought farming simulator 15. Although the game is just about ‘playable’ using the integrated graphics I’d like to have a smoother experience.

Can an anyone recommend a gpu that would suit the J1900, which I appreciate is very very low end. I had considered a GT 710 but wondered if I could get something a bit better without it being bottlenecked by the CPU.

The board has an open PCI-E x1 slot.

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will have a look at them.

Sorry used the wrong term, yes the slot is open backed.

Not looking to change the board/cpu as it’s a completely passive setup currently and other than this game, it suits my needs perfectly.

A GT1030 might be all you need.

If you'd consider another PC:

I'd stay away from the Q6600 as it's a 12 year old CPU and not actually much faster. It'll also consume 10x the power. If you want something bang for the buck, I'd grab an OEM SFF PC like a HP Elite 8200 SFF and add a GT1030 to that. That'll cost maybe $200 total, but you'll have a much more modern platform.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X MSI B550M Mortar 16GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4-3600 @ CL15 - RX5700XT 660p 1TBGB & 256GB 600p Fractal Define Mini C CM V550 - Pop!_OS 20.04
