i5 9600 vs 8600?

My friend is looking into getting an i5 processor for his value oriented gaming PC because for some reason he is allergic to AMD XD the 9600 has similar pricing to the 8600..so...whoch should he get for the best gaming performance? Also what is the highest graphics card I should go with as to not produce any bottleneck?

Whats the budget? a 1080 ti or 2080 will be fine most of the time.

9600k if it isn't that much more expensive. Amd is way better now then in the fx time. 1080 ti/2080 should do

basically the same cpu, go 8600k if delidding, 9600k if not

You're aware that the i5 9600K isn't soldered right? you have to delid both, it's identical in every way, aside the turbo clocks which as an unlocked CPU is meaningless.

Unless you plan on not overclock or simply use MCE.

In this case for the same price you have the i7 8700 which consumes less power being a 65wTDP chip, requiring less fancy cooling solution, featuring those same boosts in clocks but with more cache and Hyper-Threading.

So yeah... the i5 9600K is eh... gimmick.

What is this obsession about MCE being a justification for this processor? This is literally just one of the many silly "branding" Intel throws around with disregard much like Turbo Boost and TDP themselves. It means nothing.

It is an unlocked processor so I insist if you get a Z chipset and it, "MCE" can be achieved however way you like, just pin the multiplier at your desired frequency.

That means the i5 8600K can work identically to the i5 9600K in every single way, there is no way you can justify paying for it because it's stock clocks are better being a processor you should have control of clocks in the first place.

And if you're 100% certain you want stock, then the i7 8700 is better in every way while making your system cheaper, regardless of MCE MCE MCE where you're paying every single premium price tag to overclock just to use an auto-setting that will still provide inferior performance of the i7 8700 on multi-threading, multi-tasking and barely any distant in single-threading in a b360 system that costs half.

i do remember the early rumors saying it wasn't gonna be soldered but when the specs announced i double-checked.
