Reinstall windows because of CPU upgrade?

Do I have to reinstall windows when I upgrade from a ryzen 5 1600 to a ryzen 7 2070x while keeping my Mainboard?

shouldn't have to, but if your systems wasn't up to date before the switch, then you might run into issues.

kinda 50-50. some have had no issues and some have had total FUBAR experiences.

Generally no - because its the same platform - your first few boots into windows may take slightly longer. and it may take a few restarts for everything to run smooth again.

 

Worst case scenario, you may have to just reinstall (or to play it safe) and  just back up your important data before the upgrade.

If it's the same generation, there shouldn't be a reason why you would need to reinstall. At most Windows activation may complain and you'll have to reactivate using your product key.

The answer is just no. Even if you change motherboard or anything else, you don't need to reinstall Windows. It's not win98 era anymore.

Nope. Windows doesn't care. If you have some OC going on, those need to be reseted. But OS side nothing needed.
