Is a Ryzen 5 1600 with a GTX 1060 good for 1080p gaming

A couple of months ago I wrote a topic about " Is an i3-8100 with a gtx 1050ti good for gaming?". Since then I stretched my budget to have a GTX 1060 6GB video card. I heard that this card is WAY better than the 1050ti (50%boost) and it wont be obsolete for a while. Now coming to the point I was talking to my friend about my Build and he said "Try the Ryzen 5 1600, it has 6 cores 12 threads and doesn't cost much more than the i3-8100 (3€ difference)" . So is a Ryzen 5 1600 and a GTX 1060 6GB good for 1080p (High/Ultra settings) Gaming?

yes. much better than 8100

Yes it is good for 1080p gaming. Even my R5 2600x and 1050ti are good for 1080p gaming. How much does a ryzen 5 2600 go for? If it is close in price to the 1600 go for the 2600 as It has slightly better ipc, lower latency and improved clocks.

I would strech a little more to a 2600, and look into the 580 8gb as it performs about the same as the 1060 and is sometimes cheaper. Just get a well cooled one, you can ask me if it is, and normally I'm right

Great build for 1080p gaming. I'd recommend looking at the RX 580 8GB cards as well, they perform nearly identically to the GTX 1060 6Gb. I would get the better value option of the two.
