Guys on my old 760 GTX randomly the screen turns black and orange light,, you cant do anything but to restart comp.  I went to event viewer and saw I have a bunch of warnings saying.  Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.  So I switched video cards and its still doing the same thing.  Ive tried bunch of driver versions to no avail.  What can it be ?

Might be the PCIe slot on the board. Try the GPU in another slot, or another board to see if that works.

Thanks,... You know I was thinking that.  Because this problem started when I flashed the video card BIOS for no reason.  Now Im using different video card but its happening.  Ill try it on another slot see what happens.

Then next thing I know screen is black,, with orange light I cant do anything but to restart.  sighs

Is the orange light the sleep mode indicator on the monitor? And is the PC still on/running?

If so, it could be a Windows Power Options issue.

Yes, it loses signal and goes orange.  I made sure PCI link is OFF for power options.  The Comp is on but you cant do anything.  Sometimes when this happens the music IM listening to or utube is still playing and I can hear it, but the monitor has no signal.  THen after 15 or 20 seconds that stops and reboots, or you have to do it yourself.

Have you tried it with PCI link on?

With that info it may not be the issue I had.

Another question, do you have Asus AI Suite installed?

Nice rigs man.  Thanks for the quick response.  I can sure go ahead and turn on PCI Link.  I just went to safe mode and use DDU then installed the latest 416.xx drivers.  Im going to see what happens.  If it goes black again Im going to take yoru advice and turn on PCI Link and what not.
