How much are Youtubers' PCs actually worth?

Guest

I had just been wondering after watching Jay's most recent video how much that Skunkworks PC is actually worth. I Googled it and found that there was a version on pcpartpicker, but that hadn't been updated in while and so obviously it wasn't fully accurate. This also applies to something like Linus' custom desk pc, or the rave pc. Does anybody know?

Add up the cost all of all the hardware including watercooling parts and it'll add up to the total value of the PC.

^^^ Yep, just throw together a parts list on PCPP, take a gander at how much blocks and tubing and such are from whatever company they used (for Linus and Jay I think it's EK) and what desk PC cases cost, and you can get a pretty good idea about how much they cost.

They get shit for free, or heavily discounted in some cases like buying "Sample's" from vendors.

While this applies to current version of Jay's Skunkworks, the original (like Linus' personal rig) was bought system. Jay was doing high end custom builds back then.

If the Winnie the Pooh cartoons taught me anything, it's that bears love honey.  They're probably digging a tunnel right now ...

It's okay, I won't get banned... Because I use private internet access. Private internet access is the simple to use VPN that allows you to hide your identity online and browse as if you were in another country...

This varies from build to build, on top of that not all techtubers have update their build with the latest parts, which further complicates the matter as the 2080ti, and the 9900k are both really expensive components, but for large channels I would estimate that their builds are usually $2500 to $4200 (USD).

The Albino bear is the one to actually see in the wild, they are probably a protected species. To the Native Peoples that is a very spiritual animal with deep meaning.

Totally, who want to rebuild their entire PC everytime a shiny new component comes out, when what they have gets the job done, and then cable manage it?

I've been using PIA personally for the last 2 or so years. There was a law brought in within the last few years where Australian ISPs are forced to store data on their customers for a period of two years. Signed up to a VPN pretty quickly. Been pretty happy with it.

It is many aspects actually, like not listing precisely what they are using, or skipping major areas that need covering. It is like those classless unboxing videos all the kids are doing now. We find a product that we want to see, and its not widely available online tubers, they give every angle to a stupid cord, they show the stupid manual. It is bad, really really bad. Just whip that fucking manual across the room, no one reads them anyways.

Well yeah, I would use a very secure vpn as well. It is becoming a police state now, it is getting worse and its bad now, really really bad.

That to, who wants to make an entire video to say: "Hey guys take a look at this sweet new GPU that I added to replace this other totally awesome GPU that isn't as cool looking anymore due to a new cooler design!"

True but can you slice a snowflake as it falls with that sword?

Then put it on tubes and showoff your pc and how you did the tube, then show the viewing audience the total cost of the video and how much money you will make from it. Be sure to add a silly face to the thumbnail video picture! In the dibblydoo under the video, list out the specs of your pc. Then block any comments on it, that is always a special thing tubers do.

Hey I never said that a sword was bad, it's just that if people emotionally rely on how popular they are, they are in for a world of hurt sooner or later.

Linus' custom desk pc, or the rave pc. Does anybody know?

No one knows how much it cost Linus. Steady at the helm to rake it in while it lasts. My gut tells me the showmanship is a facade, that what lays behind the curtain is not what is shown to the viewing audience, otherwise the train slows down and the ROI slows way down, costs pile up and employees start to leave and it becomes lean and the hunger drive instinct will take over. Of course there will always be that core group of people. It is good that there is an inventory system in place where they scan stuff in and out. Probably a lot of money laying on those shelves.
