Windows 10 Pro Licenses Are Being Downgraded To Home

The next big thing Microsoft should do is to upgrade Windows 10 to Windows 7

I believe its impossible to downgrade Windows although Microsoft also said its impossible to swap from X86 to X64 when XP 64 released and within months hackers proved them to by lying.

Since Vista, the only thing that upgrades Home to Pro, is just the added features found in Pro. If they remove those Pro features, and changes some of the registry, then it's back to Home.

And yeah I was indeed misremembering, Microsoft said you couldn't upgrade from XP to XP MCE without a reinstall and hackers proved them lying.

Saw some of them even went as low as Home Single Language. Pro down to Home, okay, but to Home Single Lanuage?! This is like as if Microsoft barges into your room, takes your ultra high-end gaming computer, and instead of giving you a type writer, they give you a abacus instead.

I'm sure it probably is possible to be honest but MS won't allow it, probably for the same reason why you can upgrade your cable/satalite TV subscription direct from the box but if you want to downgrade you have to ring and talk to someone.

So the OS is now "Home". I wonder if this method will be able to fix it, for those that don't want to wait for the fix from Microsoft.

Because it's Home, then it means you can upgrade "fix" to Pro, by using the Windows anytime upgrade methods, where you enter your pro key and then it adds the features and changes to pro.

I bought a Windows 7 OEM key, transferred it form a 2011 iMac to my PC, upgraded it to Windows 10 and then reinstalled it about 3 times after updates bricked it over the machines life. All for like $20

For those who is wondering. Every now and then (every few days), and when you upgrade, Windows does a license check, if you happen to fall to the period of maintenance from the Activation Service, you have this issue. So that is why it doesn't affect everyone.

BTW, despite Steam updating some games and maxing out my internet, I was able to get W10 Pro to activate just now. Though I always activate it via my MS account as I've got 4x W10/7 Pro keys and I don't know which motherboard/laptop they are connected to.

If it were my guess, probably the problem has been fixed already. If the problem isn't fixed for those affected (re-activation fails) maybe what was done screwed things up on the back-end, and now it is a matter of fixing that. OR and more likely, it takes time to propagate the fix on all activation servers. Again, my guess.

The way I am...Ive been used to that Watermark for a long long time lol - now if they downgrade my ISO from Pro to Home, Ill hate having to redo all my PCs.  May just get me an EBAY key if that happens lol

I'm honestly shocked that no one has claimed MS did this intentionally to "revert the privacy and telemetry settings to steal everyone's information"

Win10 sends a lot of data home.  But that's where the similarities between Win10 and spyware end.

Spyware tends to be well supported by its developer.  Its code is compact and efficient.  It runs perfectly fine on most systems. It also usually becomes better and more sophisticated over time.

I did notice this morning that all of my Windows 10 Pro installs weren't activated anymore but there's no annoying watermark and I don't have to call in to reactivate them. Weird.
