Can my GPU drive triple monitors?

spwath

I have an r9 290, i3-2120, 8gb ram.

Can I run 3 1920x1200 monitors (I can get the three monitors for $150 total)?

I mostly play BF4 and Fortnite.

I believe for those 200 series AMD cards you can drive 3 displays, provided at least one of your three displays is connected via Displayport or and active displayport adapter. The other two don't matter what they are connected to.

The monitors won't cause a performance hit if that's what you're asking.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Yeah, but can I get decent framerate? Card is pretty old, but so is BF4

the r9 290 was kind iffy on 3 monitor support and yeah it required a combination of normal displays and active adapters , the r9 290 doesn't support 4k 60 natively so it was quite a long time ago as far as monitor support goes.

if you want to run surround then idk, going to have to step down settings im pretty sure

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Oh yeah, like that.. Obviously.

Looking at some triple 1920x1080 benchmarks for Battlefield 3, I can see on medium it gets about 80fps, but at ultra it drops off to about 40fps. I can imagine Battlefield 4 demand a bit more of the GPU.

On some graphically less titles, like Skyrim (original), I can see it getting about 76fps on the highest settings. Fortnite is probably comparable in fps to that, maybe a bit under that.

So some game will run fine, others won't. You might also see some games hit the 4GB framebuffer of the videocard on triple monitors, since that is almost 4K.

Are you trying to run the game on all three monitors like a racing sim? Or just curious if that GPU will output to three different displays?

AMD Eyefinity is supported by his GPU

I only did Hardline with a single titan black at 5760x1080. Even on the highest settings it was playable but only high 50's for framerate. Id imagine low settings on bf4 would be ok to roll around in tank with.

You shouldn't have any problem, I'd run EyeFinity triple 1920x1200 monitors since the good old HD5870 days, right up to my recently retired 2x R9 290X (did EyeFinity pretty weel IIRC). I did, however, give up on EyeFinity when I got my first 21:9 monitor. Now gaming on a 3440x1440 display, though I'm toying with the idea of getting that Samsung 32:9 3840x1080 monitor for that dual 16:9 monitor aspect ratio.

My school library has the Samsung 32:9 monitors. So nice. I want to steal one...

I have a 29" 21:9 now, trying to decide between that and eyefinity, or save for 34" 21:9

This is so much nicer than triple monitor EyeFinity....mainly, less cable mess and bezels...

There are perks to triple in bf games though. As well as desktop but in cheap though.

You know, it's been a while since I last played EyeFinity, and I'm getting a little woozy when I play on this new monitor, kinda like how I'd felt when I first tried EyeFinity. Guess I gotta train myself again to adjust to the extra screen space. It has a refresh rate of 144Hz, should I l set it to run at 144fps in my Adrenalin setting? And yes, I have Freesync enabled....
