Hello! I’m new so sorry if this is in the wrong section. Tomorrow I’m buying a new Power supply as you can see it’s ugly and it’s recently died probably because my pc was sat on the carpet as I have no room on my desk. IS this safe (picture) or will it still harm my new coming PSU, Many thanks

Yes just don't knock it over ;) And put a fan filter, or screen of some sort on the bottom so that its blocking some of the dust getting in that PSU.  Or you could mount the PSU *upside down* as an exhaust for GPU heat to be pulled out so you don't have to worry dust from the carpet into the PSU at all.

Spoiler

its fine just not the best thing for it. You will see more dust with it on the carpet and higher temps as the fan cant move as much through the carpet. The best thing for you component's is a clean room with a foot of clearance between any intake and the nearest object blocking incoming air. cause no matter what dust will get in the system but that's why you should clean it regularly.

as long as the boxes can handle the weight of the case it's ok

wood is a better option though but that will work

Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't it also help if the computer was out from the wall a bit to help air flow?

From this view point the exhaust fan is blowing straight into the wall.

Could this not lead to back wash and maybe dust re-entering the case?
