What chair is best?

I'm in the market for a new chair as my current one is only a year old and falling apart. Are those racing type gamer chairs actually any good and if so what brand should I go for? I live in the UK and Amazon is my jam so something off there would be perfect but really any ideas are welcome. I don't currently have a budget so don't worry about throwing anything my way. I've looked all over the place and have no real comparison to make for office chairs as I've only really just used what was around or what looked good and what was cheap. I spend most of my day on my computer so nice butt padding is a must and a high back for my head would be perfect (I'm 6 foot exactly). Thanks!

Which ever chair feels the most comfy.

 

This is literally what I do. I skip the Staples and Office Depot and I go straight to a real store that usually specializes in office furniture and I go and I sit in a bunch of them, then I go flying across the floor and I lean back hard on the chair to see how it flexes. If it passes my tests and the price is right, I buy it. The chairs at the usual suspects are garbage.

Well duh but I don't have a car and there aren't a lot of big stores that sell office chairs in my area. I would go to IKEA but again, no car. And I can't really test chairs via the internet.

You could take transit if its available, or you could get a ride with someone that is going to the big town for the day.

 

Everybody has a different butt, so what is awesome for me, could be awful for you. Also there might be other factors like medical. I once fell down the stairs and my tail bone hurt for years after only sitting for an hour or two.

 

Otherwise Amazon is your best bet, if they have free returns. Then you just receive it and return it and try out 5. Then order the one you want. But like I said, everybody has a different physical body shape.

Yeah I was thinking max £400 if that. over £500 on a chair seems insane.

How much is your body comfort worth?

 

You sit all day and you require a comfy, padded seat with a high back and head rest.

 

There is not much different between the quality of 400 and 500 gbp's. But there is quality difference between the cheap chairs and mid-tier.

 

I would buy 2 chairs at a time, and return them, repeat 2 or 3 times. Then order the best one. Otherwise, buy 1 and do the same. Once you find a good chair, it should last. Then you can fix it if it were to break. I put new caster wheels on all my chairs.

Not one of those boy racer chairs. If you want a decent chair, get something from Herman Miller or Steelcase. Poly&Bark or ArgoMax if you're on a budget.

If you look around you can get excellent deals on open box items etc.

6'1", 200lbs, and a bad back and I've spent the last 10 years being ultra comfy at my PC in a full size La Z Boy recliner.

Picked the present one up used for $80 at St. Vincent De Paul Charity and thrift store.

 

A recliner for a PC chair!?

I don't even know how you physically do that. I'd feel like my legs were cut off if I couldn't roll around on my chair. I would appreciate a La Z Boy for the comfort when not doing much but I don't think I'd be able to cope while playing games or anything I needed to sit forward to do.
