From the benchmarks I've seen, the RTX 2080 edges out the GTX 1080 Ti in most games, but if price difference between them is substantial (as to how to quantify 'substantial', that's up to you to decide), then go with the less expensive card.

I have the 2080 and it runs everything flawlessly at 4K except BO4 Blackout it runs out Vram and starts to hindered FPS and stutter after a 10 minutes of gaming so I swap it with my 1080ti and I can play BO4 Blackout much smoother without stutter or FPS dips. I rather have 1080ti at this time but maybe BF5 will change that even tho RTX capabilities have been ruduced quite a bit in BF5 and no DLSS at this point I don’t even know if BF5 will have RTX out of the box. The only fix is the 2080ti but no way I’m spending 500 dollars more plus RMA galore.
