Both will do what you want. The 1080 might not be able to stretch it’s legs as much with your CPU but it will still be better than the 1070. The 1070 is great price to performance currently. Nobody is quite sure how much we’ll get off this year. If it’s decent though I’d just jump at the 1080

My Build, v2.1 --- CPU: i7-8700K @ 5.2GHz/1.288v || MoBo: Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E Gaming || RAM: 4x4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 2666 14-14-14-33 || Cooler: Custom Loop || GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC Black, on water || PSU: EVGA G2 850W || Case: Corsair 450D || SSD: 850 Evo 250GB, Intel 660p 2TB || Storage: WD Blue 2TB || G502 & Glorious PCGR Fully Custom 80% Keyboard || MX34VQ, PG278Q, PB278Q

Audio --- Headphones: Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX || Amp: Schiit Audio Magni 3 || DAC: Schiit Audio Modi 3 || Mic: Blue Yeti

[Under Construction]

My Truck --- 2002 F-350 7.3 Powerstroke || 6-speed

My Car --- 2006 Mustang GT || 5-speed || BBK LTs, O/R X, MBRP Cat-back || BBK Lowering Springs, LCAs || 2007 GT500 wheels w/ 245s/285s

The Experiment --- CPU: i5-3570K @ 4.0 GHz || MoBo: Asus P8Z77-V LK || RAM: 16GB Corsair 1600 4x4 || Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo || GPUs: Asus GTX 750 Ti, || PSU: Corsair TX750M Gold || Case: Thermaltake Core G21 TG || SSD: 840 Pro 128GB || HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB

R.I.P. Asus X99-A motherboard, April 2016 - October 2018, may you rest in peace. 5820K, if I ever buy you a new board, it'll be a good one.

you'll get better high framerate gameplay if you upgrade to an i7 7700. what motherboard you got?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I would stick to AMD. neither the 1070 or 1080 will be bottlenecked at 1080p as 1080p is easy for the gpu and the 2600's performance will allow it to chew through all of those frames and it shouldn't bottleneck. If Intel is too expensive, don't choose it.

There's no reason not to. Filter for used products, pick the cheapest one, and if it's DOA, eBay has purchase protection. It's really hard to get swindled on eBay, you'll always get your money back, and remember to be a smart shopper.

That being said, domestic prices have skyrocketed for used 7700s, so unfortunately it's not a good time to buy.

You may see a couple of FPS difference but in general, they're the same. Just pick the cheapest one from a reputable manufacturer.

1070: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fpBrxr/evga-geforce-gtx-1070-8gb-ftw-dt-gaming-acx-30-video-card-08g-p4-6274-kr

1080: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/HDvZxr/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1080-8gb-turbo-oc-video-card-gv-n1080ttoc-8gd

Their only real difference is their looks. Just pick a cheap one with a nice looking cooler on it. You can go into a lot more depth about cooler design and clock speeds and overclocking performance but I don't think that is what you need or were looking for.

No body knows, cause it hasn’t been announced yet. Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe more. It’s not my decision to make

Get whatever one you want. Any card with an aftermarket cooler will perform well, from a reliable manufacturer.

Yes. It will perform better. And when the RTX titles start rolling out you will be able to use RTX but don't buy it purely because of RTX. If you want RTX, wait for the RTX games first but if you want more raw horsepower, then it will do better.
