[Old News] Minecraft spin-off game announced with 2019 PC release

As with the previous Minecraft topic recently, this is somewhat old news (about a month old) but again wasn't posted.

 

 

A minecraft spin-off game has been announced with a 2019 PC release. The game is called Minecraft: Dungeons and is meant to be an action/adventure dungeon crawler type game. It's aesthetic is basically copied over from Minecraft from the looks of things.

 

This appears to be their first new game in a while so hopefully it's more successful than their last attempt, scrolls, which failed very miserably.

Definitely interested to see what they could bring new to the table with this game and I'm surprised they want to make more games in Java based on the issues they had developing Minecraft Java. Unless of course this is using a different engine or using C++ which I doubt although the latest Minecraft Java version does seem to contain both Java and C++ so i'm not entirely sure tbh.

The last original game they tried to make failed very badly and they ended up killing it off.

I'm pretty sure more people than ever are playing it... just because you outgrew it, does not mean it is dead. You and I just grew up when it was peak for content creators. Though maybe not the majority are on PC, there are still thousands of people that play Hypixel and plenty of other servers. I personally still enjoy small and or private modded servers.

defenately not a dead horse yet. popularity of the game is defenately downhill, but if you were once on the peak of everest 'downhill' is a long way to go.

 

all in all, minecraft is among a select group of games that maintained such an audience, for such an amount of time.

 

also, on the topic of dead horse.. java version still gets content updates.
