So is it worth the extra $30?

He's getting a nzxt water cooler

No not worth it ;)

My friend wants to overclock the cpu, is there much difference between the two processors?

And yes I know the stock coolers are different (he's not even gonna use the stock coolers).

The 2600x has the better boost with XFR2 wich the 2600 doesn't have, so higher overall clockrates...

They both OC, so I guess it mostly depends on your cooler and mobo. Get the 2600 and then spend more on something like a Corsair H60/H100.

Ok the mob is not that nice to do a OC. If he really wants to push it I suggest a Z470 and most importantly a better VRM.

Cooler is perfect

We're talking about AMD and the Chipset doesn't matter...

And OC isn't really worth it so I'd recommend the 2600x anyway, because it already clocks higher and has XFR2...

toure correct, but most X470 boards offer better VRM and nicer caps etc compared to B450

OP states, that he wants to oc... so then the differences disapear
