Anybody from Chile here? I'd like to make a question...

Hi. I'm curious. In your country, can you import used cars to there? Will they be street legal?
My question is because of this:

I'm confused. Do you want to import or export a car?

It is duty free since 2015 for USA, other countries probably 5%.

New cars are 85%

engine tax is based on size

I want to import. Buy a car from somewhere in USA, Canada or Japan and bring it to Chile.

Actually, I'm trying to find out if you can buy a car from somewhere in USA, Canada or Japan and bring it to Chile. (I'm not from Chile btw)

The law in Brazil only allows you to import a vehicle under 2 conditions:

You are allowed if you're buying the vehicle brand new.

You are allowed if you're buying an USED vehicle that is 20 years or older that has retained most of it's originality for collection purposes.

Rule is identical to motorcycles.

Any thing that does not fit in this say like a used 2 years old car it is not legal to import it, the law exists to protect local market since used cars in other countries are usually so much more cheaper.

And this is why I wanna leave this place. Wasn't it 30 years though?

I believer that 30 years is to apply for the special black plate, specifically.

I just wish I could buy my Evo here for a reasonable price. There are a few ones starting from 90k online, but the problems are the taxes and maintance. IMO, It's not worth doing it here! Sometimes I wish I didn't like cars at all.
