MSI 2k monitor only doing 1080

So I recently purchases MSI optix MAG27CQ which is a 2k monitor with 144hz refresh rate, when im using my display port it works great at that resolution. The problem is that when I moved my playstation in and used the HDMI port the screen will only do 1080 and I can not find a way to change the resolution. The user manual shows that the hdmi port should support 2k and it is a 4k hdmi cable, in the settings on the monitor I can change the mode but none of that will change the resolution. Has anyone encountered this issue and if so what did you do to fix it? I am playing on a playstaion pro which does 4k on my tv just fine and I can move the playstation back to that but its easier to stream from my office and the tv is a little big for that. Any info helps thank you.

PS4 does not support 1440p. It can only do 1080p or 4K. Since your monitor does not support 4K, the PS4 is limited to 1080p max.

well thank you for that, that makes me feel a lot better
