RTX 2080 Ti Failing Too Early

1 minute ago, AngryBeaver said:

From what I can see this looks like a problem with the memory. Also while they are seeing more failures than with say the 10xx series, they aren't THAT much higher than what you normally see. In the scheme of thing the failures are still a low % of the total playerbase, the problem is that the people that buy these cards are often members of the spoken minority and take to the forums to rant or complain about it... not to mention all the tech sources using this for click bait and blowing it out of proportion.

Makes sense.

*Laughs in perfectly working 10th series card*

Laughs in my first 2080ti didn't work but I simply got it replaced with a new working one so I still have the best gaming card on the market.

Honestly when my first one was broken I was on diffrent forums simply trying to get it fixed because I thought it might be an early driver issue or other early growing pain. Alot of others had the same issue so I thought it might be the case and that driver would fix the issue but I contacted msi and they said that what was happening was abnormal and wouldn't be due to early drivers. Ended up getting a new one and it worked perfectly right out of the box. So the bottom line is that there were alot of posts of people trying to troubleshoot faulty cards more so than people complaining.

Well I have a 2080ti still sitting at home on a workbench. I finally got in my waterblock and backplate for it, but haven't had time to put it together. Then I was going to stick it in my 8700k system, but now I have decided I might just build a 9900k for it instead of draining my other system.

My problem is with work and 15month old twins... I don't have much time for anything these days.

I find its ironic how when you are younger you wish you had more money to spend on things to do stuff then you get older and make more money but don't have time to do stuff.

True story, but it is just as fun to spend it on your kids. I have a teenager who I can't get interested in building a pc, but I am hoping I can get these twins in to them at an early age.

Without official numbers from Nvidia and/or board partners, it is hard to know how widespread this is. This is just anecdotal evidence.

Perhaps people are complaining more than usual because of the steep price and supply constraints? With any other card, you would just RMA and get a new one easily, and not complain so much?

Or perhaps they are dying in record numbers. Who knows. In any case, without some hard numbers here, this is hardly news.

Yeah it's always nice seeing family members enjoying something you got them. I know I gave my 1080ti to my brother when I switched to the 2080ti and he was absolutely ecstatic. He was running an fx 8320 and a r7 270 and I have given him my old r7 1700 and now he has my 1080ti so he is pretty happy with his improvement in performance.

Yep, it's too soon to tell right now. Could be nothing, could be huge, but no way to know until we give it some time.

I can't believe how bad this generation of cards have been. Besides the 970 thing, they are been fairly flawless with their cards the past several years.
Makes AMD's vega launch not look so bad.

Yep, once drivers and games support the tech the RTX 2070 packs, it'll probs pull ahead, especially with the new DSLXX or whatever the acronym for that is, that optimizes the AA a lot better and makes for moar tasty fps. Though they likely won't match my 1080s in any games that scale well with SLI.

Hey,

apparently the RTX 2080 Ti Founder's Edition is broken and many users are reporting that they experiencing "artifacts, crashes, or outright failure."

  • "Less than two months after release, these cards are dying at a pace that appears to be higher than the standard failure rate for consumer electronics."
  • "So far, there have been no reports of problems with any RTX 2080 cards of any type and no reports of issues with any of the custom variants of the RTX 2080 Ti."
  • "these problems don’t appear to be heat related."

Yeah, Vega is still shitty and it's working properly.  2080Ti's have some failures but beat ass.  Hmm..
