Some people aren't so quick to jump to conclusions. 

I could remember the R9 300 fiasco. Users reporting that Windows Update downloads the R9 200 series, in some instances, causing their Windows to brick entirely, or difficult to boot. This is because the R9 300 cards were basically rebadged. I remember one tech youtuber complaining that the R9 390/X were essentially R9 290/X and he wasted time on just debugging. He downloaded drivers from AMD website, still doesn't work, but when he used the driver from the disc, it works!

Just don't preorder something let alone rely on a promise. Still no RTX lol

Don't preorder on promises made by manufacturers, we agree on that.

But to not preorder because of initial failure rate to me seems to make no sense, it's just normal and RMA will take care of it.

Well, no. Just people not instantly crying "burn the witch" if they don't know what's actually happening. That's all. Every mass produced product comes with failure rates in production. Nobody is willing to pay companies to test every single chip so that's the usual risk. If there is a higher rate of failure (there aren't any valid numbers out there so hard to judge) then it's still in question what part exactly is failing (if it actually is a single point of failure in all cases). If it is the memory then this is not even NVIDIA's fault. 

 

Basically: there aren't any numbers out there and no numbers to compare them to in the first place. It's all just a wild guess. If it turns out to be a production issue then we'll get information within the next couple of weeks by reputable sources.

Exactly,  the failure rates of most PC hardware is anything up to 5%, the last article I read on GPU failure rates put Nvidiia with an average of about 5-6% and getting better.   I'd be making posts about it too if I spent that much on a single piece of hardware that died.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

People have bought the 2080s, most people who want an upgrade will consider it. Some people just buy the latest every year or are simply ignorant. 

It's probably just the normal failure rate - these cards probably do get tested pretty well before they leave the factory, in any company there are failures like these. 

Every company, AMD, Intel, Apple, Sadsung have these issues.

The various breakdowns that were on Gamer's Nexus showed that Nvidia didn't cheap out on PCB components.  Would be  a shame if that level of detail was diminished by a flaw outside their control.

Every brand new product is prone to failure.  Doesn't matter the manufacturer.  This is why I patiently wait for all the kinks to be worked out before upgrading to the next gen.

So far, my Palit RTX 2080 Ti is working as it should, I constantly monitor the temps and it seems to be operating normally under load (UT3, Titan Fall 2, Doom, Crysis and Crysis 3.However, should my card fail, you can be sure I'd be back here to raise a ruckus!

To be fair that phone was an amazing phone, easily one of the best phones. They did a shit job on battery design, and it bit them. Note 8 wasnt as attractive to me, and the Note 9 is a MUCH better phone. Double the storage, More battery, more features. But i got the Note 9 for 800$ so theres that.

 

I wouldnt have pre-ordered a $1200 card since i still think 4k gaming is not worth bothering with. Im using a 980ti, and im interested in getting a 1080ti for around 400-450. Buying new is great for warranty stuff, but the 2080ti is only about 10-25% better, thats not worth 2-3x the price to me.
