Seasonic is the OEM, so I would assume that they're based off the Prime? So probably Tier A/Tier 1 assuming they haven't done anything to fuck them up.
I don't think any reviews are up for them yet though? So maybe wait before dropping $250+ on one of these.

Definitely looks like the Prime to my untrained eyes looking at the internal images that are shown on Newegg for them.

LOL, first time I've taken a look at the new tier list...it...needs work IMO.

Why is S above A? Why have so many tiers? Seems like you just need best, better, good, bad. Named as such. The letters really mean nothing. Especially when you're sticking S at the top for no apparent reason.

I have no opinion on this particular list but S has historically in many places been a superior class than A (whenever it was used).

Automotive industry (BMW comes to mind), some games with tier lists (characters) or gear (like Lineage 2), sometimes in manga/anime (One Punch Man).

Never thought much about it, I just saw it here and there whenever a letter grade tier list was implemented.

Not everyone is knowledgeable of automotive industry marketing terminology. The first time I encountered an S ranking was this list. I only presumed that it meant better than A because it came first and I know some of the units in the category.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

With the data we have, it might be safer to a ssume that its not really a great PSU than it is...

So I'd rather not get it and save for something good...

Seems like it trys to get you with the modularity, probably same price as some better units like be quiet System Power 9...

That's rather expensive.

And the Aurum Gold is shit anyway and should be avioded, especially in 2019.

So, where does the Seasonic Eco Plus series belong in this new list?

No reviews. I thought Seasonic cancelled it, they showed it in Computex 2017, then there was a whole lot of nothing.

JonnyGuru.com is unfortunately down, but look at that thread when the site is back up again.

http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13947

Don't buy it! Buy something that is known good. If it ends up to be an S12II rebrand (I really hope not), you've wasted money on overpriced garbage.

Probably the same shit as the S12II-Bronze, just with cheaper components and less warranty.

So its to be avioded and worse than the lowest thing Cooler Master and other brands have in their Lineup - especially since its not 10 Years old like that thing.

So condolences. Can you exchange it for something decent??

I'm too poor to go Focus G so I went ahead with this one. In my country (PH) it's almost $20 behind S12II 620W. Never expected this to be an oopsie though. Seasonic is practically worshiped as a deity here in terms of reliability.

Anyway, as stated in national regulation, i can only return this item if it's defective. I wanted to buy an S12II or an EVGA BQ series but this one proved too tempting. Welp, gotta slap it in my X79. Ironically my Ryzen 1600 is powered by a orange unit VS550.

Yeah, although its not really true either it seems.

The thing is that most of the Seasonic units use "Wapanese" Caps, made in China that people believe that because of the Caps, the PSU has to be reliable when there are much more points of failure. For example MOSFETs or the +5VSB Chip...

That sucks.

The PSU you were looking at don't look too good either, the BQ might have been slighly better though nobody really knows as its not tested.

You have some nice Hardware, why not save for PSU those components deserve??

There is still no definition for what "Tier S" really means (or any other tier), so it'd be better if you told us what you'd like your PSU to be. And also what's your setup, which HX of Corsair you're talking about, and what price you can get them both.

NZXT H700 (dumb version)
EVGA SUPERNOVA G3 750W (which will be replaced as I'm going to use it in another system)
ASUS MAXIMUS X HERO
INTEL i7-8700K @ 4.7GHz, 1.264V
2x8GB Corsair Vengeance White Led 3000C15 (Soon to be replaced by 4x4GB TridentZ 3600C17 non RGB version)
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 (stock clock, memory at 11 GHz)
1x Samsung NVMe 250GB 960
1x Samsung SSD 500GB 860
1x Samsung SSD 250GB 850
1x WD Caviar Black 1TB (Soon to be replaced by a 2TB Gold one or a 1TB SSD for improving system's stealth)
Corsair H115i PRO RGB Push/Pull (with x2 WLED 140mm and another x2 RGB 140mm (all ML))
3x RGB ML 120mm fans all exhausting air combined with Lighting Node Pro for the RGB control).

I can't access EVGA's P2 else, I'd go for it closed eyes.

Anyway, I'm looking at:

Corsair HX750, Corsair HX850 and the Seasonic Prime Platinum 650W

I also own a APC UPS 1400VA

About price difference:

Corsair HX750W 143.16
Corsair HX850W 156.99
Seasonic SSR-650PD2 167.03

23€ difference. Do I care about it? No. Do I care for the system's health and longevity, hell yes. I guess 650W are more than enough for my system. Do I plan to SLI? Also, no.

If I ever going to touch my system, it will be once DDR5 platform is introduced to the mainstream market.

I also don't care for the "i" versions as I have no available USB2 ports on my motherboard and monitoring my PSU ain't a priority for me

NZXT H700 BLACK | CORSAIR RM750X | MSI Z790 TOMAHAWK DDR4 | INTEL I7-13700K | G.SKILL TRIDENTZ 32GB DDR4-3200MHz | EVGA GEFORCE RTX 3070 Ti SUPER FTW3 ULTRA | KINGSTON KC3000 NVMe M.2 1TB | SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS NVMe M.2 1ΤΒ | SAMSUNG 860 EVO 500GB  | SANDISK ULTRA 3D 1TB | CORSAIR H150i ELITE

There are no good reviews for Seasonic Prime Platinum 650W. There's one for 1000W here: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/seasonic-prime-ultra-platinum-1000w-psu,5397-12.html

There are two reviews for HX750 and HX850 (both by the same person):

https://www.kitguru.net/components/power-supplies/aris-bitziopoulos/corsair-hx750-psu-review/

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/corsair-hx850-psu,5257.html

If you assume that Seasonic Prime Platinum 650W is as good as the 1000W version, then all three of those PSUs are great and pretty much top of the line. I'd have a hard time choosing any one of them myself, so I can't steer you towards any one. Take whichever one looks nicer to you, or any other petty reason.

The only reason I'd pick the Seasonic is one is cause of the reliability, 12 Years Warranty is pretty strong, if I'm fine with wattage then I guess I'd pick this one. And yes according to Seasonic, the 1K Watt belongs to the same series as the 650W as well! But yet again, who keeps a PSU around for more than 5-6 years?

Looks doesn't matter as there's a PSU shroud covering everything up.

BTW, why OCP at 5VSB is a CON? It's mentioned in both PSUs' reviews
