Bethesda warns Fallout 76 fans to expect 'spectacular' bugs and issues

We live in an age where games are being rushed out quarterly eating each other's profits by releasing all games at the of the year resulting in no money for no one except for a handful, can game companies stop releasing games altogether and spread it out? look at how Tomb Raider got buried into oblivion and had a 34% discount on the game that was released less than 30 ago,(you would hypothetically have to 600$ even if you managed to by 10 games at basic edition, and at least 300 for 5 but i digress), and now we have Fallout 76 a game which no one asked for releasing at a crowded launch date releasing statements such as the game is gonna have bugs so deal with it //Rant

Quote

"Some we're aware of, such as areas where performance needs to improve with lots of players," the note reads. "Others, we surely don't. We need your help finding them, and advice on what's important to fix. We'll address all of it, now and after launch."

Gotta love pre ordering games from developers that notoriously release buggy games!

In all seriousness, this is something that is kinda expected from Bethesda.. Let's just hope this doesn't cause GTA Online-style money laundering glitching/hacking.

I don't have high hopes..

Why spend millions on RND when you can rush out a product, see how much it breaks, fix it and then sell it under either a renewed version or different brand.

Look, they got away with doing no QA on New Vegas and even got out of paying Obsidian their bonus with that little trick. So why would they start with QA now?

This is literally a public beta. Did anyone even read what they said......

It's one thing to release a product saying it's the full thing with a bunch of bugs. This is the beta and they are asking us to help find bugs which is what a beta is.

Yah software companies have figured out that the best beta testers are the general users. Put the commercial users back a release cycle and use your regular customers as beta testers. Fuck them, they should be thankful they get to buy your product at all, damn plebeians that can't afford 99$+ a month!

They're all probably commercial customers that are screwing you out of your commercial price anyway!

I remember when people complained that the battlefield 3 beta way back in the day had bugs and said it was a bad game. Made me so mad because people think that a beta is the same as a demo these days. They don't realize that they are some to fund bugs they haven't found yet.

We have no clue at this point how buggy the game is nor if 2 weeks is enough time. I would say we need to calm down a little before we go up in arms because they said they would use the beta as a way to test for bugs.

It just irritated me when people get mad about bugs in a beta thinking that it's representative of the final product. Honestly played that one the most but I didn't really encounter bugs on bf4 or bf1. Then again I waited a month to play both.

I expect they will because they don't really have the choice. They explained how important bug finding and fixing is this time around because there are no ways to mod or use console commands to fix these issues. This was explained in an interview by Todd.

I find the opposite experience, and that the beta is often just a free demo more than an actual beta, and unlike bf5 is too close to release to actually fix any serious bugs. I find that most I play are representative of the game, and that combined with game companies abusing terms like beta and aplha, I really don't blame people. The fact that you can buy fully playable fucking games label "pre-alpha" when aplha itself literally used to mean just past the prototyping phase for a game is a joke. AAA games companies (as well as smaller ones) have diluted all meaning to the terms alpha and beta to cover for buggy releases, and when people take bugs in something they actually intend to be a beta seriously, they have no right to complain. It's the tale of "the developer who cried alpha" and the entire fucking industry is at fault.

This is a legit beta. They said in an interview that they know one key way to fix the bugs they couldn't find in their gaming testing is through the beta. The reason why they made that post was to make that clear to everyone. Hopefully people realise that and don't start bitching about it like they did with the bf3 beta. I do think it's problem that the line between a demo and beta are being blurred. I still think most betas are actual betas even if no bugs were found. If no bugs were found in the beta that simply means they did a good job of find the bugs in their previous game testing.

It doens't matter if their intentions are to have an actual beta or not. We're past that. These terms have lost their meaning and no one will, or should, take anyone at their word for it anymore.

It doens't matter if their intentions are to have an actual beta or not. We're past that. These terms have lost their meaning and no one will, or should, take anyone at their word for it anymore.

People should take take their word of they are as clear as Bethesda is being noe. They said they are using it to find bugs so that's what people should expect and they shouldn't complain because again that is what a beta is supposed to be.
