hello all, so i am looking for some opinions and guidance about 2 builds . i am currently in am3+ socket with a msi sli krait edition fx 8320 and etc etc and  i am thinkng to upgrade... i have those 2 motherboards platforms a gigabyte ga z87x oc force edition 1150 socket with a g3258 cpu / and a x58 gigabyte ga ex58 ud4p with i7 920.. and i am looking to buy a xeon for 1 of this board that i will chose... i have some knowledge about x58 xeons and how they perform but no at 1150 socket.. the build porpose is gaming and some editing so i want to hear your opinions about those 2 different builds choices and what you will chose and what cpus with them etc etc

I'd get a 6 core 12 thread Xeon for that X58 board and overclock it. For example Xeon X5675 is a good CPU and it should be easy to find for cheap.

 

And I'd recommend checking this thread if you want to know more about X58 Xeons etc.

thanks for the help i see that a top xeon in x58 board is 5690? and what about 1150?  thanks for the link i will check it now

Here is a list of LGA1150 Xeons: https://ark.intel.com/products/series/78581/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E3-v3-Family Those best ones are based on i7-4770 and i7-4790.

 

LGA1366 Xeons are a lot cheaper than those and can be overclocked.

i buy those mobos from a friend for 70 euros both in exelent condition... that bad thin about that z87 is that it has so nice top oc futures and its forcing me to go with a i5 or i7 coz the xeons are locked as you inform me...
