Meh whatever, I was buying some Christmas gifts in advance and I found some 1070s cheaper than a 1060 6gb on ebay. So luckly I'm not gonna regret my decision. It's funny cause I almost bought the 1060 xP

Imagine NV released a physx style card, with just RayTracing and DLSS accelerating cores instead of a 2060 series card. So you could pair it with any hardware. 

I don’t think that that would work. As it’s a hybrid technique that probably can’t be split. But an interesting thought.

If they don't give this a new name like 1060 Ti, it's going to be the RX 560/RX 580 2048SP/GT 1030/MX150 all over again.  At face value, you might think "nah it's fine, this time they'd be improving it under the same name, not making it worse, so that's fine", but it's not because it effectively makes all the existing 1060s worse by comparison and the issue of not knowing which you get remains.

 

I know it's not the topic of this news but my main question here is actually why it's thought that the RX 580 refresh would be called an RX 590 and not an RX 680?  Also I haven't even seen any of those rumours yet xD

There's definitely some rumours of an RX 590 launch before the end of this year.
