How can I avoid bricking my graphics card when flashing a new BIOS?

My EVGA GTX 750Ti SC is starting to show it's limitations, and I've read some threads that say you can gain anywhere from a 10% to 20% boost in performance by overclocking using a voltage-unlocked BIOS. I doubt the card will run into hard power limits because it only pulls 30w of the 65w TDP at stock voltage, and everything is still within the 75w limit of the PCIe slot. I know that it is possible to brick the card if I flash it incorrectly, so how can I avoid that? Since it's a 750Ti, I do need to use the Maxwell BIOS tweaker, instead of the Kepler version like the rest of the 700 series.

thermal throttling? Because my 750ti pulls 60w easily at stock.

Don’t let the power go out. Or do it on some system that randomly bosd’s.

really with these sorts of things it just comes down to common sense, like there isnt much to be worried about as long as you have the patience to wait for it to finish doing its thing before pulling the plug and stuff, and just dont flash some random sketchy bios and you will be fine. 

Sadness is the one true emotion, and happiness, well, that's just a lie, sadness is all many of us feel, and is all we need to feel, because having it any other way, would just be wrong, why be happy when you can just be miserable like myself.

Always always always backup your original BIOS. 

 

In case something bad happen you can use your GPU in 2nd PC to recover the card.

Nope, running at full capacity. A lot of other people say it only uses 30 watts, which is backed up by the fact that my card has a really small fan/heatsink, yet still gets pretty low temps when gaming.
