Good time to buy a 1000 series graphics card?

 Share

Hi, everyone

So I recently got an HTC Vive and need a new graphics card in order to get the most out of it.

I realized that this would be the case when I bought it but was pleasantly surprised that my GTX 960 2gig was able to play a few games. With the RTX 2000 series cards releasing is it a good time to buy a last gen card? ? I'm thinking about getting a 1080 or 1080ti. I have been into tech for years but never payed attention to the "stock market" side of things so I don't know how prices normally behave around a launch. How quickly will last gen cards go out of stock? Will the prices go up around the holidays or should I try to get a good price by waiting for black friday/cyber monday? Just playing Beat Saber for a few weeks won't kill me if I can save 100+ bucks.

Thanks for the advice. ?

Very good time, lots of used 1080s and 1070s.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

I'm actually looking mostly at new cards. I'm a bit scared of getting a dud if I buy used. ?

It was always a good time to get one. Like 6 weeks after launch getting referbished 1080’s for 200 a piece on a pallet pull.

With more 20 series cards coming, everyone is wanting to upgrade for little to no gains. So you might as well take advantage of that.
