they probaly wont.. then people would be getting games from there and only using the actual PS4 for exclusives

that's the point. if we could do that that would be awesome! no more buying a game twice, one console and one for pc :)

thats true.. if they just made a store where people could download games (something like steam) maybe even somewhere where game developers can upload their own games. like that, plus, sony needs to start getting better games on PS4 (such as pavlov, csgo, pubg, etc)

Why bother with BC when you can just force people to rebuy the game from your online store? :P

Having BC might drive digital sales up as everyone starts talking about old, but good, games.

I mean its cool and all that Sony is making a PS5 even though I think we all knew they were going to.  Although I do feel a little bit cheated even though the following scenario is entirely my fault.

While I'll continue to use my PS4 as a blu ray player I can't help but to feel that there is practically no reason to own a Sony console now given that most "exclusives" are just timed exclusives and eventually make their way to PC.  I mean just now even Yakuza got on Steam, NioH is there, FF15 is there.  Whats next Persona and God of War?

Backwards compatibility, a real GPU (I know it would require a bigger console but)

they need to just build a Console that has a basic GPU (something like a 660 or rx 550..) and make it to where the user can

A.. add more ram

B.. Switch the GPU

C.. change settings in-game (for if you upgrade to a better gpu)

edit” by “settings” i mean graphics.. ie render distance, 3d resolution, shadows, textures.. basically if you want better frames, you can turn it down vice versa

would be bad if there wasn't a way. And here the architecture isn't in the way.

Its possiblet hat they reuse the PS4 OS on PS5 with only slight modifications...

A real GPU is bullshit on a Console. M$ has shown with the Xbox 360 that a unified memory architecture is to be prefered on a console. Because it gives the game developer more choice as they can decide what amount of memory is needed for graphics or system.

With the last generation we had in the 2nd iteration, a fight between one console with integrated graphics/CPU and one with dedicated GPU/CPU, though the memory was integrated on the GPU Package. the Board was still huge...

The hardest I can think of is the PS3 backwards compatibility, because of the different architecture, the PS2 can be easily emulated on a modern system, the same goes for the PSX.

It is possible... But anyway this would just need an investment and the backwards compatibility is not a feature that would increase money revenues even if a lot of people would like to see taht.

I want the next generation of controllers to have haptic (like modern smart watches and phones) feedback in the actual triggers so as you're pulling the trigger of your gun in a shooter you'll be able to not only feel the standard vibrations of an old controller but you'll also feel the haptic engine directly on your finger.

The Xbox One does this.

Unless you mean you want Sony to do this too.

That seems expensive with the Motors or Coils needed for that.

There was something like that for joysticks on PC a while back. Called force feedback. But with Joysticks dead, its pretty dead as well...

Well except for racing wheels, those survived...

Not really.

The Xone has vibration in the trigger.

What he means is variable resistance trigger like a shitty gun trigger for example.

Or rather what was done with Joysticks that had force feedback back in the day...

PS3 got Motion sensors.

PS4 got a Touchpad (and kept the Motion Sensors) and two additional Buttons: Options and Share button.
(Start/Select are in PS4 Games left/right press on Touchpad)

So there is more innovation than on M$ side who only did the triggervibrators...

Games on physical media.

I'd be ok with 1080p. Detail > resolution.

I don't really play many games for gameplay anymore honestly. I play most games just for the graphics.

I think Sony and Microsoft need to become competative with the PC market.

If the next gen doesnt perform at 4K 60FPs at a minimum. Not only will that give PC devs a kick up the back side we may actually see some untapped innovations.

I would argue we would need to see options for higher then 60 fps gameplay as well.

I would love to see new consoles who may only briefly compete with high end machines.

Sadly the cost of such a machine would only be passed down to us as the consumer
