Go to Settings > Account Management > Privacy Settings > Enter your password > Personal Info | Messaging, and set Messages to either Friends (if you trust them) or No One.

 

I don't own Playstation nor Xbox, but if you have a Playstation 4 you might want to set your message to private to prevent this exploit brick your system according to the articles stated. I hope Sony is working on this and will push out the patch ASAP on next week.

Same way you can crash phones with text messages.  Certain character combinations (particularly unsupported characters) can set things off.

I still have my PS4 because my PS+ hasn't ran out yet so I can still come back occasionally. my PS+ does end November this year, though, so not long to go.

 

I'm sick of Sony charging so much for PS+ and the frequency that their servers are down, in this regard, PC is superior, and I've had my PC since May.

 

That's just unfortunately how I see PlayStation now, I've had my PS4 since 2015 but this year it's going to go.

Microsoft gave us Windows 10 after the majesty of 8.1 and 7. 

Intel and AMD gave us hexa- and octacore CPU's. 

Neither of those work with 8.1 and 7. 

 

Linux doesn't play well with triple monitors unless only one is plugged at time of install. Minor inconvenience? Perhaps, but it still fails to deliver audio natively. - Linux Mint 17

 

Nintendo? Now that's superior! Better mobility, games, and holy f#$% those games that are incoming!

I'll likely be selling my PS4 once my PS+ runs out. I only ever played Overwatch, Rocket League, NBA 2K, and GTA 5 on PS4, all of which I can now do on my PC no problem. Either that, or give it to my brother.

 

Good riddance either way, Sony aren't taking another penny off me.

Same way that for like 3 months in 15 there was a text you could send to break iphones messaging app.

Didn't something like this happen to iOS devices few years back? It didn't brick your system but there was a certain image that made your phone restart every time, I think there was another where a certain message via iMessage would restart your phone too. These exploits are always so fascinating, I don't understand what's cause them.
