Can i remove one fan from my gpu and still be fine?

gucciguy

I have a gtx 980ti from gigabyte (triple fan) and the right fan (furthest away from video ports) has broken bearings and vibrates while in use. I was wondering if i removed it until my replacement arrived would there be any bad side effects besides slightly higher temps?

You might want to apply higher RPM to other fans, but I don't think that something catastrophic will happen to your card.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

Unless you plan to remove 1 Fan from a 1 Fan card that would be bad :D

In all honesty though: i Removed a single broken fan from a Triple Design on some old R9 Series card and it worked fine even with stock RPM speeds for em. Maybe run some benchmarks with thermals on display and adjust Fan Speed Curve accordingly.
