Is Stocktrading via VPN safe?

Hey guys,

 

I'm not sure if this post should be in the "networking" section or not but anyways...

 

I'd like to know if there is any way to be hacked via VPN?

I'm just curious if it's safe to trade stocks with a VPN like NordVPN or so.

it would be kind of slow , is there a reason you can't trade stocks with your current connection?

from what little i know you're merely sending commands back and forth to a server which shows you the results so I can't imagine what good hacking your machine would do vs just hacking the entire stock market itself.

you need to think about what a VPN does and what it doesnt do.

 

All it does is route your traffic through a different network to hide your original IP in the best case.

 

The most common way how peoples banking accounts get hacked is key loggers of phishing as well as manipulated websites.

A VPN will help you with none of these things so it makes no sense to use one here

You are never really safe. It just boils down to who do you trust more. NordVPN or your ISP. It adds a layer of protection from people snooping on your way to the destination. But someone has to decrypt it to know where you are going. If the site uses things like TLS encryption you should be fine

If you like slippage (what traders call desync), then, by all means, use a VPN, most trading platforms use encrypted data while you trade unless of course, you're using an internet browser based charting platform, which I'm sure is https, you should be fine. Just don't click on weird links in your email. lol

For trading there is pretty much no need for a VPN, unless you are on a public network. If your network is slow then your charts might be delayed a bit

Most stock trading is safe, though extra security measures, like NordVPN, won't hurt. If you choose a server near you there shouldn't be any noticeable increased lag. If you are on a public network then definitely get a VPN.
