Odd VPN Behavior for school wifi.

Interesting problem here. My school blocks certain websites which most students circumvent using a simple VPN on their phone. This works for everyone with no problem. However, on my laptop and on anything BESIDES a smartphone such as a raspberry Pi, VPN's do not work. On my macbook using NordVPN, I'll connect to a server, then a second or two later it will disconnect and then reconnect, cycle repeats. Should mention that I use the same NordVPN server on my phone (Google Pixel 2 XL) and my mac, and only my phone will work. Any fixes/workarounds?

Somehow the NordVPN works differently on devices other than smartphones.

Please note we don't allow discussion of filter circumvention here.
