Intel 9th gen starting price in UK is crazy

Shally

So you can preorder Intel 9th gen chips from Scan.co.uk and overclockers.co.uk.
i9 £600 ($800?)
i7 £500 ($700?)
i5 £350 ($480?)
Are they not crazy high and will they even come down?

Irish in Vancouver, what's new?

no, that is how Intel priced them.

Also, you forget pricing is different in regions. A 100$ product quite often costs 100£.

New series is way to expencive, but that is what intel has done this year.

Current intel pricing (14nm shortage) makes AMD just about the only brand to care about at any given budget below 1400$(ish, kinda lost track of how much the 8700k costs)

I didn't forget that, the 9th gen is going for MORE pounds in UK than dollars in America

The 8700k last month was going for £330 BRAND NEW, that's £170 less than this preorder price.

What I'm saying is pricing for preorders in UK is MUCH more than US, like $200-$300 dollars more) and MUCH more than previous generation.

It's only hit that high since the new series was announced and performance increase was shown to be minimal, for the last year it's been at £330

14nm shortage hit about 2 weeks ago. The 8700k has been climbing since.

Mosy of the year it has been about 330-350£ yes. But there is a 14nm shortage

So why is this shortage hitting the UK way more than the US?

Well that's the whole point I'm making, UK has crazy higher prices, like not just "oh 40$ more for little to no improvement" but $300 more, that's almost the price of a 8700k 3 months ago in the price difference alone...

There are enough people who want to pay the Intel Tax and buy those overpriced processors...

Just look at how many threads about buying that thing are already made, although we don't even know how the performance is, how much more the 2 Cores will bring, if it is memory bound or not, how high the power consumption might or might not be...
