iPhone XR vs iPhone 8

Taily96

With the upcoming release of the iPhone XR, I was wondering if it was worth upgrading from the iPhone 8. Id end up paying extra for the phone per month, so are the new upgraded specs really worth the price change?

it's already realeased, and in some points terrible. so it's not worth at all to go to a xr, you should look into android if you want to upgrade from that

No.

It was NEVER worth upgrading from one Phone to the direct successor - in general.

Usually, it never offers enough of a spec bump to "notice" the differnce.

However, this case is a bit different:

- Jump from 4.7" to 6.1". Without the Body growing just as much. Do you want a much bigger phone? It's worth switching. Because the iPhone 8 is still only 1 year old, and will continue getting updates untill 2022/2023~ probably, you can sell it for a very good price. You will probably only pay 200-300 bucks for the iPhone Xr.

- Modern Design, instead of a 2010 design with those Bezels, where even the Pixel 3 XL Notch looks tiny in comparison.

- MUCH (!!!!) better battery Life, because it's a by Far bigger battery.

- 3gb Ram instead 2gb. 50% more is a nice bump.

- Display is not worse. Still LCD like iPhone 8, and still the same 326 ppi Pixel density.

Keep in Mind: no 3d Touch on the iPhone Xr.

For pure performance? No.

Kamera? Probably no either.

Future proof? No.

The upgrade only makes sense, if you want the modern Design, and the bigger Display.

Consider getting a used iPhone X instead maybe. Amost same size as your iPhone 8, but much bigger Display.

Neither phones are released and neither of them are terrible.

Depends on whether you want a larger screen. The regular iphone 8 has a fairly small screen. The xr is significantly larger on paper, although some of that size gain is obscured by the stupid notch.

Other than screen size i see no benefits to the XR, although its possible the battery will last longer.
