Hitting 5,1 Ghz on 6700k good or bad?

So I bought a i7 6700k 3 years ago and was only starting to benchmark it really recently. Is it normal for a 6700k to hit for example 5.5 Ghz on three cores and 5,0 on the last at 1.44V? I'm also getting over 1000 in cinebench and running it stable at 4,8 Ghz at 1.264 V.

Should this jbe considered lucky for a 6700K?

Time will tell if it was a luck or not.

surviving a single cinebench run without crashing is one thing , a 12 hour render is another.

Definitely. You definitely got better luck with the silicon lottery than what I did. I haven't gone as high as 1.44V, but I'm pretty sure there's no way mine will hit 5GHz let alone 5.5GHz. I wouldn't run 1.44V as a daily OC. Do your cinebench scores and then dial the OC and voltage back down to something more stable.

My 6700k starts melting at around 4.8GHz across all cores. Could probably go higher if I fiddled with voltage more and fine tuned it, but 'Straya is hot enough as it is. Also I don't think my almost 10 year old PSU will like it if I ran my CPU at 1.44V :D

What temperature does it get to in Cinebench?

I'd be worried about frying it. You're pumping a lot of voltage into it.

Just tried my 6700k to see how it went since it had been a while since I pushed it.

4.7ghz at 1.33v was able to get 958cb (temps in mid to high 60s after 3 back to back tests with default fan curve)

To get 4.8ghz to even make it to windows I had to go to 1.38v. Even at 1.38v cinebench crashed during the run.

Was able to run cinebench 4.8ghz at 1.39v. Was able to get 976 & 980cb with temperatures in the low-mid 70s with 100% fan speed. Got a bsod on the third consecutive run.

There's no way my 6700k is making it to 5ghz across all cores.

If you can get 4.8ghz across all cores stable at 1.265v, then you're doing pretty good and have been extremely lucky with your chip. It's a lot better than mine.

I'm hitting 74-76C max, so that should be a problem, but then again my fans are running pretty much max

That's just when running benchmarks, I'm running 1.3 normal, wouldn't run daily at 1.44

I've atually ran an 1 hour aida 64 bench on the same settings without issues so it's stable enough but I wouldn't run on 1.44 V as everyday use.

if it's stable then theres no reason not to....... less you think it might be a bad idea to leave the cpu in this configuration perhaps

As I understand you might reduce the lifespan of the cpu running on those voltages so for that reason I'm turning it down a bit
